1935 Buffalo Nickel

The 1935 Buffalo Nickel  was struck at all 3 mints in 1935. The Philadelphia Mint struck 58,264,000 coins. The Denver Mint coined 12,092,000 strikes and the San Francisco Mint minted 10,300,000 strikes.

The 1935 Buffalo Head Nickel coins minted at the Philadelphia Mint were a pretty good run of coins with regard to the quality of the coins. With such a high mintage (over 58 million coins) you should be able to find some nice coins in uncirculated mint condition. What is scarce is mint coins with perfect details.

Coins from the Denver Mint were also made with pretty good quality.
1935 D Buffalo Head Nickels in uncirculated mint condition should not be hard to find. What will be much more difficult is finding coins that are Mint condition coins with flawless details.

The coins minted in San Francisco were a average run of strikes.
Finding coins in uncirculated mint condition with nice details will be a tough job and coins that are flawless are even harder to find.

Some interesting die varieties exist with the 1935 Buffalo Nickel. The Philadelphia Mint had some coins with a Doubled Die Reverse and the Denver Mint had some coins repunched mintmarks.

1929 Buffalo Nickel was a pretty low minted coin from the Philadelphia Mint, only 6,446,000 coins were made. This was the lowest mintage of strikes for the 3 mints.

The 1929 Buffalo Head Nickel coins that were struck were of an average quality. What is important to note is coins with mint details are not known to exist. It is believed some problems with the dies existed and even coins with very very nice details are hard to find.

The Denver Mint struck 8,370,000 coins. These coins like the ones from the Philadelphia Mint were of average quality. Coins in mint condition are very hard to find. Even coins with above average details will be difficult.

The San Francisco Mint coined 7,754,000 strikes. The coins struck were a better overall quality than the other 2 mints. With some luck you should be able to find Coin with very very nice details.

The 1930 Buffalo Nickel was only minted at 2 mints in 1930. The Philadelphia Mint struck 22,849,000 coins and the San Francisco Mint struck 5,345,000 strikes. The Denver Mint did not make any Buffalo Head Coins.

The Philadelphia Mint had an OK run of coins with most of the coins in the average range. Finding coins that are in near mint condition or above can be done, but it might take some looking for.

The coins from the San Francisco Mint were a little better that the ones from the Philadelphia Mint. Finding coins in Mint condition or near mint condition is very possible.

For collectors one of the nicest points of the 1930 Buffalo Nickels is the prices are very reasonable for coins with in near mint condition.
